Privacy Policy
This policy explains how mahjong.download (“we”, “us”) handles data about you when you use Hong Kong Mahjong (the “Site”).
In short: the Site needs no sign-up, and we do not collect your name, email address or any contact details; your game data stays in your own browser. The Site has no ads and uses no analytics or tracking tools.
01Data stored on your device
- Games in progress, game settings, lobby choices, your avatar, and whether you dismissed the language prompt are kept in your browser's local storage (localStorage).
- If you upload your own photo as an avatar, it is cropped and resized in your browser and stored there. It is never uploaded to our servers.
- None of this data is sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing the Site's data in your browser settings.
02Technical data our servers receive
- As with any website, when your browser requests a page it sends technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the requested URL and the time.
- This data is handled by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and may be kept briefly in access and error logs. It is used only to keep the service running, protect it from attacks and fix bugs — not to identify you personally, and not for advertising.
03Cookies
- The Site uses a single cookie,
lang, which remembers the language you chose and lasts one year. It is a functional preference cookie and contains no personal data. - The Site has no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no third-party cookies.
04Third-party services
- Cloudflare: hosting and content delivery. Cloudflare's handling of the technical data above is covered by its privacy policy.
- The Site loads no other third-party scripts, fonts, ads or social plugins.
05What we don't do
- We do not sell, rent or share your data with any third party.
- We do not build user profiles or track you across websites.
06International transfers
Cloudflare runs a global network, so technical data may be processed outside the country where you live. The providers we use offer an appropriate level of data protection.
07Your rights
Under applicable law (such as the GDPR or Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act), you may ask to access, correct or delete data about you, or to restrict or object to certain processing. Data stored on your device you can delete yourself; for anything else, email contact@mahjong.download and we will reply within a reasonable time.
08Children's privacy
The Site is suitable for a general audience and collects no personal data from anyone, children included.
09Changes and contact
When this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. If we ever add features that need accounts or online play, we will update this policy before they launch. For any privacy question, contact contact@mahjong.download.
